We’re taking a little trip down memory lane to one of our favourite moments from this summer: two~good candles being featured in the summer curation at Better Things London.
Being chosen to sit alongside such a brilliant mix of independent makers, designers and small brands was a real highlight for us and one of those moments that makes all the behind-the-scenes work of running a small brand feel very worth it.
A summer of independent makers
If you haven’t discovered Better Things before, it’s an independent shop in Forest Hill, South East London, bringing together a carefully curated collection of products from independent makers and brands.
From homeware and candles to ceramics, jewellery, art and lifestyle pieces, it’s the kind of shop where you can go in for one thing and inevitably leave having discovered five more things you love.
So when we found out that two~good had been selected for their summer curation, we were pretty excited.
Our candles joined a lovely collection of independent brands, all with their own stories, ideas and creative approaches. It was exactly the kind of environment we love seeing two~good in.
Seeing two~good on the shelf
There’s something different about seeing your products in a real shop.
We spend so much of our time looking at candles on screens, photographing them, designing around them, packing them up and sending them off, that seeing them sitting on an actual shelf alongside other beautifully made products feels quite surreal.
And there's something particularly lovely about knowing that someone has walked into a shop, picked up one of our candles, read the label and had a little smell.
That's the magic of independent retail.
Why independent shops matter to us
two~good was created to be bright, fun and a little bit different, and we love finding independent shops that share that spirit.
Small shops and independent makers bring so much personality to our high streets. They give customers the chance to discover brands they might never come across otherwise, while giving small businesses like ours the opportunity to meet new people.
For us, being part of the Better Things summer curation wasn't just about getting our candles onto another shelf. It was about being included in a community of independent UK makers and creative brands that we're genuinely excited to be part of.
A little Forest Hill love
Although the summer curation has now come to an end, we're really grateful that two~good got to spend a little part of the season at Better Things.
